BAC)KGRO!j ND <br /> The site is located at 2402 Pacific Avenue,on the northeast comer of the intersection of Castle Street <br /> and Pacific Avenue The site is located in a topographically flat area at an elevation between 10 and <br /> 15 feet above mean sea level in the city of Stockton, San Joaquin County, California The site is <br /> within the northeast quarter of Section 6, Township 2 North,Range 6 East,Mount Diablo Base and <br />' Meridian (Stockton West Quadrangle, 7 5-Minute USGS Topograpluc Series, 1968, photo revised <br /> 1987) <br /> 1 <br /> 2.0. SITE DESCRIPTION <br />' The site is currently a vacant lot, with all structures and improvements removed circa 1996 The <br /> property encompasses approximately 0 15 acres or 6,325 square feet The California Fuels Cardlock <br />' Station (CFCS) operated the site as a retail station of motor vehicle fuels between May 1983 and <br /> January 1995 A wide spectrum of fucls,including gasoline and diesel fuel,was stored and dispensed <br /> of on the site at various times Two 10,000-gallon gasoline underground storage tanks (USTs), and <br />' one 10,000-gallon diesel UST were in operation with no known history of repair during the <br /> occupation of CFCS <br />' 3.0. UNDERGROUND STORAGE TANK REMOVAL <br />' On 12 March 1996,three 10,000-gallon USTs were excavated and removed from the site Substantial <br /> petroleum hydrocarbon-impacted soil was reported in soil samples collected beneath two of the three <br /> removed USTs at depths of approximately 17 to 18 feet below surface grade (bsg) Total petroleum <br />' hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline (TPH-g) were detected from UST removal soil samples at <br /> concentrations as high as 6,420 milligrams per kilogram (mg/kg), benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene <br />' and xylene(BTEX compounds)were detected in the same soil samples at concentrations as high as <br /> 875 mg/kg, benzene was not detected from any of the analyzed soil samples <br /> 4.0. PREVIOUS SUBSURFACE ;NVESTIGATION <br /> The following is a summary of previous investigations at the site of the unauthorized release of fuel <br /> products to the subsurface <br /> • July 1996-Two soil borings(B-1 and B-2) and four ground water monitoring wells (MW-1 <br /> through MW-4) were advanced to maximum depths of 60 feet bsg at the site, wells MW--1 <br /> 1 APPENDIX A <br />
