SECTION 6 <br /> GENERAL SAFE WORK PROCEDURES <br /> Personal Protection <br /> In addition to the respiratory protection described above, initial protection <br /> for workers in the Exclusion Zone (designated contaminated area) shall <br /> also include Tyvek, hard hats, eye protection, inner latex or PVC gloves, <br /> outer nitrile gloves, and safety boots. <br /> Work Zones and Decontamination Procedures <br /> Work zones and decontamination procedures will be established in <br /> accordance with guidance provided in Chapters 9 and 10 of the <br /> NIOSH/OSHA/USCG/EPA document "Occupational Safety and Health <br /> Guidance Manual for Hazardous Waste Site Activities." The Exclusion <br /> Zones will be marked with yellow caution tape. The location of the zones <br /> may be modified to fit applicable field conditions, however, proposed <br /> modifications must be approved by the HSO. <br /> A minimum of two basin wash/rinse stations will be placed in the <br /> contamination/reduction zone to facilitate cleaning and removal of PPE. <br /> The two wash/rinse stations will be used by workers to clean and rinse <br /> boots and gloves. The ground beneath these basins will be covered with <br /> plastic to ensure the ground is not contaminated with basin rinse water. A <br /> drum or another type of container will be designated to dispose of PPE <br /> that will not be reused, and a drum or another type of container will be <br /> designated to contain water used for the decontamination of boots and <br /> gloves. <br /> All personnel must follow the appropriate order for cleansing and <br /> removal during decontamination: boots, outer gloves, coveralls or <br /> protective suit, respirators, and inner gloves.
