,.
... 1► war
ti. 3.0 TINDINGS
TPH as gasoline was detected in three samples collected from the excavation at
concentrations as great as 3,000 ppm (NE-1). BTE&X were also detected at low
concentrations in three additional samples from the excavation. No petroleum hydrocarbons
were detected in the three samples collected from the west end of the excavation (NWI,
Lr W23 and SW-1).
TPH as gasoline, toluene, ethylbenzene and xylenes were detected in sample P-5, collected
- from the piping area. Toluene and xylenes were detected at low concentrations in samples
P-2 and P-3. Total lead was detected only in sample P-5 at a concentration of 7.0 ppm. TPH
as diesel, DCA and DCE were not detected in any of the samples analyzed from the
excavation or piping areas.
TPH as gasoline and diesel were detected in the stockpile composite sample at
concentrations of 37 ppm and 62 ppm, respectively. Toluene, ethylbenzene and xylenes were
also detected in the composite sample at low concentrations. Laboratory results of soil
samples are summarized on Table 1.
L. 4.0 CONCLUSIONS & RECOMMENDATIONS
Hydrocarbon impacted soil appears to be centered near the middle of the former tank
. cluster and near the middle pump island. It appears that there has been an unauthorized
release of hydrocarbons at the site. Conductor casing has been installed near the center of
the previous tank cluster during the installation of the new tanks to facilitate the possible
,r installation of remediation wells in this area. The PHS/EHD will likely require further
assessment and remediation of the unauthorized release.GeoAudit recommends preparation
of a plan to further assess the impacted soil at the site.
5.0 LIMITATIONS
Our professional services were performed using that degree of care and skill ordinarily
exercised by environmental consultants practicing in this or similar localities.
