i
Advanced
GeoEnvironmental, Inc ,
07 August 2007
AGE-NC Project No. 95-0128
Mr. Frank Girardi
Ms. Margaret Lagorio
San Joaquin County -Environmental Health Department
304 East Webber Avenue, Third Floor
Stockton, California 95202
Subject: Work Plan Addendum (Remediation Plan) Soil Sampling Location
PACIFIC MINI MART
4511 Pacific Avenue, Stockton, California
Dear Mr. Frank Girardi:
At your request Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc.(AGE)has prepared an additional Soil Sampling
Work Plan Addendum for 4511 Pacific Avenue in Stockton, California. As directed by the San
Joaquin County-Environmental Health Department by our telephone conversation on 03 August,
additional information and justification for the proposed soil sampling have been compiled for your
review.
The site was impacted by a release from the northern dispenser island with total petroleum
hydrocarbons as diesel(TPH-d),TPH-g,benzene,toluene,ethyl-benzene,xylenes(BTEX),methyl
tertiary butyl ether(MTBE)and 1,2-dichloroethane (1,2-DCA). The depth to ground water during
this apparent release was 50 feet below surface grade(bsg). The current depth to ground water is 30
feet bsg. A secondary release was also detected in the underground storage tank (UST ) removal
samples, as multiple UST upgrades have occurred at the site.
Through the operation of the ground water extraction system (11-2001 to 04-2006) at the site and
the current soil vapor extraction (SVE) since January 2005, analytical data from the influent
treatment samples have indicated that concentrations of the hydrocarbons being removed declined
to a level below efficiency. The detections of dissolved hydrocarbons in monitoring wells have
declined accordingly over the remediation cycle;currently two wells on the site of the nineteen total
well monitored and sampled have detections.
The EHD had verbally requested additional boring locations, increased from the March work plan
proposal of two boring locations near the former dispenser island release point. Therefore, at the
direction of the responsible party, a total of five shallow soil borings were proposed. The sample
were proposed to be analyzed for petroleum hydrocarbons and fuel additives.
The EHD has requested additional information on the specific locations of the proposed borings and
the total depth of the soil boririgs.A site map for the five boring locations, proposed at location away
from remediation points is included in Figure 2,
I
837 Shaw Road, Slocktoii,C'aliforni i 95215
Telephone(209)467-1006 Fax(209)467-1118
1
