19 December 2003 AGE-NC Project No. 95-0128 Page 5 of 12 Due to the reduction of the ground water table elevation, less ground water can be readily extracted from the single extraction well installed on the site.Therefore,one additional ground water extraction well will be installed south of monitoring well MW-5, in order to augment the ground water extraction system. Remediation within the petroleum hydrocarbon impacted area at the site will consist of the following tasks: • Permitting, planning and pre-field work activities; • Installation of remediation wells; • Installation of a ground water extraction wells; • Installation of underground remediation piping system; • Soil vapor extraction system start-up period; • Monitoring and maintenance; • Addition of the ground water extraction well to the extraction system • Operation and maintenance of the SVE system and continued operation of the ground water extraction and treatment system; and • Progress/confirmation sampling. Each of these tasks are discussed below in detail. 3.1. PERMITTING, PLANNING AND PRE-FIELD WORK ACTIVITIES Applicable and necessary permits will be obtained from the EHD, San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District (SJVAPCD) and City of Stockton Building Department prior to initiation of the remediation project. As required by EHD permitting, Health and Safety Plan will be prepared in accordance with Occupational Safety and Health Guidance Manual for Hazardous Waste Site Activities(National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health Administration)and with federal(29 CFR 1910.120) and state (title 8, Cal. Code Regs., section 5192) regulations.
