30 May 2001 <br /> AGE-NC Project No 95-0128 <br /> Page 2 of 6 <br /> 2 1 1 Soil Sampling <br /> Soil samples were collected from boring EW 1 at five-foot intervals, beginning at 30 feet bsg <br /> Iutilizing a California split-spoon sampler loaded with 2-inch by 6-inch brass sleeves The sampler <br /> vas drnren by dropping a 140-pound weight from a height of 30 inches The number of blows <br /> required to drive each 6-inch Length of the sampler(blow counts) was recorded on boring logs by an <br />' AGE staff geologist, boring logs are in Appendix A <br /> Soil samples were preserved by covering both ends of the second brass sleeve with Teflon sheets, <br /> capping and sealing with tape Each preserved sample sleeve was labeled with soil boring <br /> designation, depth, time, date and sampler's initials <br /> I <br /> 211 Logging <br /> During drilling activities, soil sample duplicates, from 30 feet to 45 feet bsg, were monitored for the <br /> presence of organic vapor using an organic vapor meter equipped with a photo-ionization detector <br /> (PID Thermo Environmental 580A, 10 0 eV, calibrated to isobutylene) and were visually described <br /> on boring logs in accordance with the Unified Soil Classification System (USCS) The boring log <br /> and as-built diagram for boring EW1 is included as Appendix A <br /> 2 1 2 Equipment Decontamination <br /> IThe hollow stem augers were steam-cleaned prior to advancement of the soil pilot boring Sampling <br /> tools and brass sleeves used for sample collection were thoroughly washed with a solution of <br /> IAlconox, and were thoroughly rinsed with clean tap water prior to each sampling sequence All <br /> sampling equipment was washed in an Alconox solution and rinsed twice with water prior to each <br /> sampling run Following drilling activities, rinseate generated from decontaminating the equipment <br /> was placed in properly labeled DOT-approved model 17H 55-gallon drums and placed in the <br /> i <br /> southeast portion of the site <br /> 22 WELL COMPLETION <br /> Boring EW l was single-completed as a ground water extraLtzon well (EW-1) utilizing schedule 40, <br /> 6-inch diameter blank poi, inylchlonde (PVC) ;.cell casing and perforated, 6-inch diameter PVC <br /> well casing (0 020-inch slot) <br /> Advanced Geo Environ mental inc <br />
