•Upgradient Environmental Consultants <br /> CORRECTIVE ACTION PLAN <br /> ARCO Mini Mart <br /> 4511 Pacific Avenue <br /> Stockton,California <br />' EXECUTIVE SUMMARY <br />' In February, 1991, a gasoline product line at the ARCO Mini Mart gasoline station at the corner of <br /> Pacific Avenue and Rose Marie Lane was broken, and gasoline leaked into the soil in the central <br /> 1 portion of the property The leak was quickly repaired and operation of the station resumed while <br /> the extent of gasoline contamination was investigated Seven investigative borings, including three <br /> groundwater monitoring wells, were drilled in order to determine the limits of <br /> ' gasoline-contaminated soil and groundwater This portion of the investigation was completed in <br /> mid-1993 <br /> 1 In the latter part of 1993, discussions were held with the Environmental Health Division of San <br /> Joaquin County Public Health Services to consider possible methods for soil clean-up A <br /> ' temporary vapor extraction system was subsequently tested successfully at the site, demonstrating <br /> that gasoline vapors could be effectively withdrawn from remediation wells and destroyed by <br /> combustion above ground in the treatment system <br /> Upon approval from the San Joaquin Valley Air Quality Management District and San Joaquin <br /> ' County Environmental Health, a stationary treatment unit will be installed on the west side of the <br /> site, south of the existing Mini Mart The unit will be enlosed by protective fencing and <br /> 1 noise-reduction materials to minimize public exposure and accessibility it will be connected via <br /> subsurface piping to one or more remedial wells located in the contaminated area An air blower <br /> on the unit will draw air and gasoline vapors from the soil through the wells and piping to the <br /> extraction unit, where they will be oxidized (burned) at high temperature and converted to <br /> harmless gasses such as carbon dioxide and water vapor These gasses will then be vented to the <br /> ' atmosphere under permit from the Air Quality District <br /> The extraction system will operate continuously for a period of several months, until periodic <br /> monitoring by engineers and/or geologists indicates that gasoline contamination has been <br /> eliminated or reduced to government-approved levels The extraction system will be removed <br /> when it appears that continued operation will result in no further soil clean-up <br /> 9 <br /> 4111 82nd Street 3369 Kimberly Road <br /> Sacramento, CA 95826 Cameron Park, CA 95682 <br /> (916) 452-2891 (916) 677-3055 <br /> Q Fax 457-1817 Fax 677-30.55 <br />
