' 18 August 1997
• AGE-NC Project No 95-0128
4 2 RECOMMENDATIONS
'
Based on the results of this investigation, AGE recommends the following
• If it is required to determine and monitor the lateral extent of the off-site migration of
dissolved hydrocarbons, it will be necessary to install additional ground water monitoring
wells
• The collection and analysis of grab ground water samples should be performed prior to
installation of any new monitoring wells Additional well locations should be determined
based upon field observations and/or field screening of the grab ground water samples and
the concurrence of the PHS-EHD
' 0 Additional soil vapor extraction and/or in-situ air sparging wells should be installed
concurrently with the installation of any additional monitoring wells, in preparation for
' active remediation at the site
• Due the probable movement of the dissolved hydrocarbon plume off-site,AGE recommends
• that an interim corrective action proceed immediately This corrective action should include,
and not be limited to soil vapor extraction and in-situ air sparging Additionally, extraction
and treatment of ground water from vapor well VW-1 and monitoring wells MW-5 and MW-
6 should be considered to retard the off-site movement of the dissolved hydrocarbon plume
' 0 The next quarterly ground monitoring event should be scheduled for October 1997 Wells
MW-4 through MW-7 and VW-1, as well as any additional wells installed, should be
sampled
' 50 LIMITATIONS
' Our professional services were performed using that degree of care and skill ordinarily exercised by
environmental consultants practicing in this or similar localities The findings were based mainly
upon analytical results provided by an independent laboratory Evaluations of the geologic
conditions at the site have been made from a limited number of available data points (I a monitoring
wells), and subsurface conditions may vary away from these data points No other warranty,
expressed or implied, is made as to the professional recommendations contained in this report
Advanced CeoEnlronmental Inc
