Box 2009
Stockton, CA 95201
Subject: Soil Excavation Report, Stone Bros. Property, Sherwood Plaza Shopping.Center, 4
5757 Pacific Avenue, Stockton, California
Dear Ms. Lagorio:
This letter report is submitted to summarize excavation activities conducted at the above
referenced site (Plate 1). The excavation was performed to remove hydrocarbon.impacted soil
associated with underground fuel storage tanks formerly located on the subject site.
SITE BACKGROUND
On October 15, 1993, hydrocarbon contamination of soil was noted during the removal of three _
underground fuel tanks at the subject site. The three tanks-removed consisted of one 550-gallon
diesel and two 2,000-gallon unleaded gasoline tanks. Upon removal, the tanks exhibited no
holes or corrosion and appeared to be in good condition.
i
Soil samples were collected.from the bottom of the tank pits during tank removal. Laboratory
analyses determined that soil samples (TP242'E, TP2-11'W and .TP3-13'E) collected from
beneath the two unleaded fuel tanks contained detectable concentrations of total petroleum
hydrocarbons as .gasoline (TPHg) The highest recorded concentration of TPHg (82 parts per
million [ppm]); was detected at the eastern end (tank fill end) of the central unleaded .tank.
Analytical data is summarized as Table 1. : Initial soil sample locations are exhibited on Plate- j
1500531REPORTSIEXCV—294.FNL
