Hopefully this holdup will not
cause any difficulties.
Monitoring and sampling results for the last four quarters indicate a
consistent groundwater flow direction and non-detectable levels of TPHg
and Benzene. Levels of diesel contamination in monitoring well M11-1 have
been non-detectable for the past two quarters. KEI recommends, and I
concur, that monitoring be reduced from monthly to quarterly and sampling
be reduced from quarterly to semi-annually. All samples will be analyzed
for TPHg and BTEX. MW-1 will also be analyzed for TPH as diesel , but
since there have been no detectable levels of TOG in any samples from
well MW-1, we propose to discontinue this analysis.
I would also like to inform you that this station has been targetecl by
Unocal for divestment in July of 1993 . Additional sub-surface
investigations will be performed to identify any possible sources of
contamination. A clean-up will be undertaken shortly after the station
ceases operation. As much of the contaminated soil and/or water as
possible will be removed in an effort to receive a clean closure prior to
selling the property. Any extra sampling at this time seems pointless.
I may be reached at (510) 277-2334 if you have any questions .
S,i,ncerely,
wvl
Robert Boust
Senior Environmental Engineer
