CLEARWATER
G R O U P I N C
• Fl1Vi/0n nlCTT tn $f iVitfS
removed during the TreaTek work was returned to the former tank excavation following the lining
of the pit with plastic Tank disposal certification is provided in the prepared report
A groundwater quality assessment was completed by McLaren/Hart in late 1992 As documented
in their February 3, 1993 Preliminary Site Assessment Report, samples drawn from the five newly
installed groundwater monitoring wells indicated the presence of moderate to low concentrations of
gasoline-range contamination Based on the results of testing completed during and following the
UST removal, additional soil excavation was conducted in June, 1993 A total of 360 cubic yards
of soil was excavated, sampled and transported to Forward Landfill for appropriate land treatment
and disposal Manifests are included in the prepared report
In accordance with a workplan submitted to and approved by the San Joaquin County PHS/EHD,
McLaren/Hart completed additional site characterization activities in October, 1993 Task efforts
included drilling eight additional soil borings, the installation of a vapor extraction well, and the
completion of a vapor extraction pilot test The results of these activities were presented in
• McLaren/Hart's December 22, 1993 report entitled Evaluation of Remedial Alternatives for
Petroleum Impacted Soil This report documented the presence of concentrations of gasoline range
contamination in several of the areas sampled The maximum concentration of TPH as gasoline
detected was in boring SI-5 (360 mg/kg), located along the eastern property boundary
Concentrations detected in samples collected from other borings were either low or below
detectable levels No groundwater samples were collected from any of the eight borings
A final round of invasive investigation was conducted by Kennedy/Jenks Consultants in early
1995 The scope of services completed by Kennedy/Jenks included the drilling and sampling of
eight soil borings Three of the borings were completed within the property boundary of the
subject site, five borings were drilled on adjoining or nearby properties Soil samples were
collected and analyzed from all eight borings, water samples were collected from seven borings and
analyzed by means of an on-site lab The results of analysis, documented in the Kennedy/Jenks
Supplemental Site Investigation report dated May, 1995, indicated that low to moderate
concentrations of gasoline-range hydrocarbons were present in the soil immediately beneath the
former tank excavation in the vicinity of sample UGS (collected following UST removal in 1992)
and in groundwater near the eastern border of the site Results of analysis of soil and water
2
