CLEARWATER
G R O U P, I N C
3.0 FIELD ACTMTIES
' Clearwater began quarterly groundwater monitoring and sampling at the subject
location in December 1994 All field work has been conducted according to
' Clearwater Field Procedures (previously submitted) which are consistent with both
local and state guidelines
' Prior to sampling, each monitoring well was gauged to the nearest hundredth of a
foot The wells were purged of at least three well casing volumes and purge water
temperature, conductivity, and pH measurements were collected. The wells were
' purged until the parameters stabilized Monitoring well gauging and purge data are
included in Appendix A
' Each groundwater sample was collected with a dedicated polyethylene bailer and
was transferred to sample containers appropriate for the required analyses Sample
containers were labeled with well numbers and placed in a cooler A chain-of-
custody was prepared and accompanied the samples to the laboratory Groundwater
sample analyses were performed by American Environmental Network (AEN),
DHS-certified laboratory located in Pleasant Hill, California. All groundwater
samples were analyzed for TPHg by EPA Method 5030 (purge and trap) with
detection using gas chromatography flame ionization detectors All groundwater
samples were analyzed for BTEX by EPA Method 8020
4.0 RESULTS
4.1 Water Level Monitoring Data
IGroundwater elevations ranged from -16 64 to -16 94 feet mean sea level (MSL) on
December 11, 1995 The depth to water in each well was measured from the top of
the well casing, which had been surveyed relative to MSL Water level data are
presented in Table 1, and groundwater elevation contours are presented on Figure 3
The local groundwater flow is estimated to be northeasterly at an approximate
gradient of 0 6% (0 006 ft/ft), which is consistent with results obtained during
previous monitoring events
I4.2 Groundwater Analytical Results
TPHg and BTEX were not detected at or above laboratory reporting limits in the
groundwater sample collected from monitoring well MW-1 TPHg was not detected
D-103 4Q95
2 January 25, 1996
I
