(GTI), to describe groundwater monitoring and sampling that was
performed at the subject site on December 30, 1993.
The measured direction of groundwater flow was toward the west. This measured direction is
inconsistent with previous site m_easurements. Historically, the groundwater flow
direction has
been north-northeasterly. Monitoring wells MW-4A, MW 10, and- MW-11 were sampled and
analyzed for the presence of TPHGas and BTEX. No detectable concentrations of dissolved
hydrocarbons were measured in"wells MW-4A and MW-11. Trace amounts of toluene were
detected in the sample from MW-10. However, this is not believed to be representative of
groundwater at this location due to the presence of toluene detected in the trip blank/lab blank
sample.
As requested in your letter dated, January 5, 1994, 1 am providing a revised estimate of the
remaining hydrocarbon mass which takes into consideration the presence of xylenes detected in
soil at well MW-S. Attachments are included to illustrate the area of consideration and the
calculations that were used to derive the .revised estimate. I hope you find this revised estimate
useful in your evaluation for case closure.
If you have any questions or comments, I can be reached at(510) 842-8695.
Sincerely, ,p
Recyclable
