PUBLIC HEALTH SEWICES opa..
SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY
JOGI KHANNA M.D.,M.P.H.
Health Officer
P.O. PHS/EHD also concurs that the
actual and/or potential threat to the groundwater has been abated
by this remedial action.
However, PHS/EHD disagrees with the estimate of the residual
hydrocarbon contamination remaining at the site. Specifically,
PHS/EHD disagrees with the volume of soil assumed to be impacted
by residual levels of petroleum hydrocarbons.
The groundwater data indicates the groundwater in the area of
monitoring well MW#8 to be impacted from low levels of
hydrocarbons. In addition, low levels of xylene were detected
during the installation of monitoring well MW#8 in 1990. The
northeast extent of the contaminant plume, therefore, should
include the area shown to be impacted from the data gathered from
monitoring well MW#8 .
Please provide an amended estimate of residual hydrocarbons based
on an area encompassing the northeast extent of the former
excavation to an area at or beyond the location of former
monitoring well MW#8 • Please base the calculations on cubic
areas of measurement instead of square areas of measurement. In
addition, please enclose the actual calculations used to
determine the estimate.
Please also provide an estimate as to the approximate percent of
A DWWAM of San joagWn GOUW7'Health Care Sarvk=
