(GTI), to describe groundwater monitoring and sampling that was
performed at the subject site on June 24, 1993.
The measured direction of groundwater flow in June was toward the northeast. Seven of the
thirteen groundwater monitoring wells were sampled. Trace levels of dissolved hydrocarbons were
detected in wells MW-2A, MW4A, and MW-8.
Also attached is a report, dated October 14, 1993, which was prepared by GTI to describe the
abandonment of ten monitoring wells on August 2-5, 1993 and September 13-14, 1993. This
report also describes the groundwater monitoring and sampling that was performed on September
2, 1993.
Soil samples were obtained beneath monitoring wells MW-1, MW-2, MW-3, and MW-6 prior to
their abandonment and were analyzed for TPHGas and BTEX constituents. There were no
detectable concentrations of hydrocarbons measured in any of the samples. The results indicate that
there are no residual hydrocarbons present in the unsaturated soils directly above the groundwater
table at these locations.
During the September 2, 1993 groundwater monitoring event depth to water was measured and
samples were collected from monitoring wells MW-4A, -8, -9, -10, and MW 11. The measured
direction of groundwater flow was toward the northeast. This is consistent with previous site
measurements. Groundwater samples were analyzed for the presence of TPHGas/BTEX
constituents. No dissolved hydrocarbons were detected in any of the wells except, for 61 ppb
TPHG and 4.4 ppb benzene detected in well MW-8. The detected hydrocarbons at MW-8 probably
represent an isolated remnant of groundwater contamination beyond the remediated area and are not
indicative of any significant plume.
q7/
