The laboratory must be able
to run all applicable quality control/quality assurance as
required by DHS and the supporting documentation must be
submitted to PHS/EHD along with the analytical results. ; in
addition, the laborator,`y .must be able to obtain sufficient
detection limits as recommended in the Tri-Regional Guidelines.
r
The confirmation soil samples taken from the former gasoline tank
pit area should be analyzed for total petroleum hydrocarbons as
gasoline, benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and xylene. The method
used to extract the hydrocarbons should be by purge and trap (EPA
method 5030) .
The confirmation soil samples taken from the former waste oil
tank pit area should be analyzed for .total petroleum hydrocarbons
as gasoline, benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, xylene, total oil
and grease, cadmium, lead, nickel, chromium, zinc, and for semi--
volatile organics (EPA `method 8270) . '
The area where the piping sample P-1 was obtained will need to be
addressed during the site work, as 0. 048 parts per million xylene
was detected in that sample. The area will need to be assessed
to determine if the contamination noted is limited in scope or is
more extensive.
The soil to be excavated.,must be covered as soon as working
conditions allow. The cover should be checked periodically
A DiviMan of San Joaquin County Health fare Services
