Box 2009
Stockton, CA 95201
Re: Chevron Station#9-6465
5608 North Pershing.Avenue, Stockton, CA
Dear Ms. Turkatte: -
Please find attached a report dated February 7, 1992, which.was prepared by Chevron's
consultant, Alton Geoscience(Alton), to describe groundwater monitoring which was performed
• on January 9, 1992, at the site captioned above.
Groundwater gradient direction was consistent with previous observations at the site.
Groundwater samples were collected from all seven groundwater monitoring wells which had
sufficient water, and only one of the samples contained a detectable level of benzene. The sample
from MW-2A contained 1.7 parts per billion (ppb) benzene.
' n
Because of the consistent lack of significant levels of hydrocarbons in the groundwater beneath this
site, I feel it is appropriate to again-request that your office allow a reduction in the monitoring
frequency. The cost of continued quarterly monitoring does not bear a reasonable relationship to
the minimal benefit to be obtained, as required by the Porter-Cologne Water Quality Control Act.
If you have any questions or comments, you may contact me at(510) 842-8658.
Sincerely,
Clint B.-Rogers
i
Engineer, Site Assessment and Remediation
Attachment
cc: Elizabeth Thayer, Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board, Sacramento ,CA
A.G.
