Box 2009 PEIiMi1J'SER 1ICES
Stockton, CA 95201
Re: Chevron Station # 9-6465
5608 North Pershing Avenue, Stockton, CA
Dear Ms. Turkatte:
Enclosed is a Corrective Action Plan (CAP) .dated February 20, 1992, which was prepared by
Chevron's consultant, Groundwater Technology Inc. (GTI), as requested in your letter to Chevron
dated December 27, 1991, regarding the site captioned above. The CAP follows the guidelines of
Article 11, Chapter 16 of the State of California Underground Storage Tank Regulations.
As requested in your letter, the CAP proposes three alternative future actions for the site, thdse being
verification monitoring, excavation of hydrocarbon 'impacted soil,. and vapor extraction of
hydrocarbon impacted soil. Chevron has.chosen the verification monitoring alternative based upon
site conditions, technical data, feasibility, efficiency, and cost effectiveness.
The excavation and vapor extraction alternatives were discounted based upon the corrective actions
which took place in 1988 (the removal of hydrocarbon impacted soil from' around and' beneath
product delivery lines) and 1990 (the replacement of damaged well heads), based upon the results of
site investigations in 1988 and 1990 (no detectable hydrocarbon impacted soils), and based upon
recent groundwater monitoring results (very minimal or no detectable levels of dissolved
hydrocarbons in the groundwater). The technical data collected regarding the site conditions do not
indicate that any significant levels of hydrocarbons are present in.the-soil or groundwater, therefore it
would not be feasible to excavate or vapor extract. Rather Chevron proposes the more reasonable
alternative of groundwater monitoring to further verify that no significant degradation of
groundwater quality has occurred.
If you have any questions or comments, I can be.reached at (510) 842-8658.
Sincerely,
i
Clint B.
