I•
SCOPE OF WORK
The purpose of this hydrogeologic investigation was to
provide an assessment of subsurface soil and water conditions to
determine the potential impact of a product line leak. The
following work steps were undertaken in completing the assess-
ment:
Perform a brief review of local geologic and
hydrogeologic data from available literature.
Explore subsurface soil and groundwat,,r conditions
by drilling, sampling, and logging three soil
borings along the underground product lines.
k tel! three, 2-inch diameter PVC groundwater
i
r monitoring wells in the soil borings.
a Obtain groundwater samploa for analysis of total
[` hydrocarbons (THC) and benzene, toluene and xylene ;
r (BTX).
{ m
Present the results cf the investigation and
findings in a summary report.
SOIL RORINGS
i
The purpose of the soil borings was to explore the site for
Lthe presence of subsurface hydrocarbon contamination and to
obtain a preliminary definition of the vertical and areal extent
of the contamination, should any be found. Chevron USA requested
that three borings be drilled and monitoring wells be installed
if groundwater was encountered. The three borings were located
along the underground product lines (see Figure 2, Site Plan).
j Boring 1 was located adjacent to the suspected product line leak
t. location.
41
l 1
q
1. i
