CORRECTIVE ACTION PLAN <br /> CHEVRON SERVICE STATION NO 9-6465 <br /> 5608 NORTH PERSHING AVENUE <br /> STOCKTON, CALIFORNIA <br /> February 20, 1992 <br /> 1.0 INTRODUCTION <br /> This corrective action plan (CAP)for the Chevron service station number 9-6465 at 5608 North <br /> Pershing Avenue in Stockton, California (Figure 1, Appendix A), includes an assessment of <br /> environmental impacts with three proposed alternatives for corrective action at the site The <br /> assessment of environmental impacts examines the potential for compromising water quality in the <br /> immediate vicinity of the site Proposed corrective action alternatives summarize the site-specific <br /> effectiveness of each alternative and a cost-benefit analysis of each proposed action This report <br /> follows guidelines outlined in Article 11, Chapter 16 of the State of California Underground Storage <br /> Tank Regulations <br /> 2 0 BACKGROUND <br /> 2 1 Site Information <br /> The site is an active service station which operates two pump islands supplied by three <br /> underground storage tanks (USTs) containing unleaded, regular and super-unleaded gasoline (Figure <br /> 2, Appendix A) A leak, due to corrosion of a fuel delivery Ione, was detected during routine <br /> maintenance in 1986 At the request of the San Joaquin County Public Health Services (SJCPHS), <br /> preliminary assessment was conducted to evaluate the impact of the line leak on soil and groundwater <br /> at the site In October 1986, assessment began with the installation of three monitoring wells <br /> Benzene was detected above state action levels in groundwater sampled from the monitoring wells <br /> In 1988, the USTs and fuel delivery lines, along with the majority of impacted soil associated with the <br /> fuel delivery line leak, were removed The tanks and piping were replaced with double-walled <br /> 233SCAP RPT <br /> -- i'- GROUNDWATER <br /> TECHNOLOGY <br />
