PRELIMINARY SITE ASSESSMENT REPORT
Marino Brothers Trucking
3516 Newton Road
Stockton, California
1. 0 INTRODUCTION
This report presents the results of a preliminary site assessment
of the property located at 3516 Newton Road, Stockton, California
(the site) . The assessment was performed by Geological Audit
Services, Inc. (GeoAudit) for the Bank of Stockton. The work was
completed in accordance with the Workplan for Preliminary Site
Assessment, submitted by GeoAudit to Mr. John Urrutia of Bank of
Stockton and Mr. Harlin Knoll of San Joaquin County Public Health
Services, Environmental Health Division (PHS/EHD) . The objective of
this investigation is to determine whether there has been an
unauthorized release of petroleum from an on-site fueling facility.
The facility is presently not in operation, and is planned for
removal.
2 . 0 BACKGROUND
2.1 Location and Site Description
The site is located in a flat industrial/commercial area of
northeastern Stockton. The location of the site is shown in Figure
1. The property was operated as a truck fueling station until 1992 .
The property is currently operating as a truck dispatch yard.
Figure 2 is a plan of the site, showing the locations of buildings
and the fueling facility. Figure 3 is an enlargement of the fueling
facility area. The facility consists of three 10, 000-gallon
underground storage tanks (UST' s) , five dispenser islands, and
associated piping. Two of the tanks contained diesel; the third
contained unleaded gasoline. However, it is believed that the
unleaded tank once contained leaded gasoline. It is our
understanding that two above-ground storage tanks were also located
on the property. It is believed that the above-ground tanks
contained diesel and/or waste oil . One was located near the western
side of the property and one was located near the center of the
property at the southeast corner of the largest building.
2.2 Depth to Groundwater
Depth to groundwater at the site is currently 50 to 60 feet.
However, seasonal high groundwater (spring 1986) was estimated to
be at depth of approximately 40 feet (San Joaquin County Flood
Control Map) . Groundwater was not encountered during this
assessment.
1
