WORK PLAN FOR PRELIMINARY SITE ASSESSMENT
Marino Brothers Trucking
3516 Newton Road
Stockton, California
1. 0 INTRODUCTION
In accordance with a request from Mr. John Urrutia of the Bank of
Stockton, Geological Audit Services, Inc. (GeoAudit) has prepared
this work plan to perform a preliminary site assessment of the tank
areas at 3516 Newton Road, Stockton, California (the site) . The
location of the site is illustrated in Figure 1 .
The assessment will include the drilling of three (3) soil borings
in the area of the underground storage tanks (UST' s) and two
borings near the former above ground storage tanks. The boring
locations are illustrated in Figures 2 and 3 .
2 . 0 BACKGROUND
The site is located in a flat industrial/commercial area of
northeastern Stockton. Three large buildings are currently located
on-site. The property was operated as a truck fueling station until
1992 . The UST facility consists of three fuel tanks, five fueling
islands and their associated piping. The property is currently
operating as a truck dispatch yard.
The UST facility consists of two 10, 000-gallon diesel tanks and one
10, 000-gallon unleaded tank. However, it is believed that the
unleaded tank once contained leaded gasoline. It is our
understanding that two above ground storage tanks were also located
on the property. It is believed that the above ground tanks
contained diesel and/or waste oil.
The three underground fuel tanks are located at the northwest
corner of the property. One above ground storage tank was located
near the western side of the property and one was located near the
center of the property, south of the UST' s (see Figure 2) .
3 . 0 PROCEDURES
GeoAudit proposes to perform a soil drilling and sampling program
to determine to what extent the operation of the storage facility
has negatively impacted the soil . Three borings will be drilled in
the area of the underground storage tanks and advanced to a depth
of 30 feet. Two borings will be installed in the areas of the above
ground storage tanks and advanced to a depth of 15 feet. However,
if field screening of soil samples indicates that contamination is
present at greater depths, and upon client approval, at least one
boring at each area will be advanced until contamination is no
longer encountered or groundwater is encountered.
