Failed to determine if waste is a hazardous waste. Metal fines generated from brake grindings are <br /> being recycled as scrap metal without first determining particle size or hazardous properties. Any <br /> person who generates a waste shall determine if the waste is a hazardous waste. Immediately stop <br /> recycling metal fines, makE,, a hazardous waste determination for the brake fines, and manage it <br /> according the Title 22 haze rdous waste regulations. Particles 100 microns or smaller must be handled <br /> as hazardous waste if the metal is determined to be a hazardous waste. Submit a statement and <br /> supporting documentation explaining how this waste was managed by 05/09/11. If being disposed as <br /> hazardous waste, save the disposal receipt onsite for a minimum of 3 years. <br /> 20. A 5 gallon bucket of waste absorbent lacks hazardous waste identification. A 200 gallon <br /> aboveground tank of used oil has a mislabeled content and missing hazardous property. Used oil tank <br /> has label stating co ntents s "waste ethylene glycol" and its hazardous property was marked as "Other" <br /> All hazardous waste conta ners shall be marked with the following information: <br /> 1. the words "HazardousWaste", 2. name and address of generator <br /> 3. hazardous properties (toxic, reactive, flammable, corrosive), 4. physical state (liquid or solid) <br /> 5. composition (contents), 3. accumulation start date <br /> Immediately label the correct contents and hazardous property on the waste oil tank. Ensure that all <br /> containers/ tanks aremarked with all the required information. <br /> - Corrected on-site 5 gallon drum of waste oily absorbent properly labeled. <br /> 27. A 5 gallon buc et of waste absorbent lacks lid to keep container closed. Two 5 gallon buckets, one <br /> of oily mop water f and outdoors behind the shop and one of waste oil inside the hazardous waste <br /> storage shed, lack lids to keep container closed. All hazardous waste containers shall be closed at all <br /> times except when adding or removing waste to prevent spillage into the environment. Immediately <br /> close these contai ers and ensure all hazardous waste containers are closed when not adding or <br /> removing waste. <br /> - Corrected on-site.
