PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT <br /> A minimum of US EPA level D protection will be required within <br /> the exclusion zone for any workers engaged in sample collection <br /> or other activities on this site. Level D protection will <br /> include: <br /> Disposable Tyvek coverall (When in contact with <br /> contaminated material) <br /> Boots with steel. toe <br /> ° Splash goggles or safety glasses <br /> ° Chemical resistant disposable gloves (When in <br /> contact with contaminated material.) <br /> Level C protection will be required if direct colormetric tube <br /> measurements exceeding 10 ppm benzene over background <br /> concentration are recorded in the workers breathing zone. Level <br /> C protection will consist of: <br /> Disposable Tyvek coverall <br /> Boots with steel toe <br /> ° Chemical resistant boot covers <br /> • splash goggles <br /> Chemical resistant disposable gloves (inner) <br /> Chemical resistant outer gloves <br /> MSHA/NIOSH approved half-face or full-face air- <br /> purifying respirator with dual organic vapor <br /> cartridges <br /> PID readings exceeding 500 ppm in the workers breathing zone will <br /> require work stoppage and site evacuation. An explosion proof <br /> fan may be used to vent the work area. <br /> DECONTAMINATION <br /> During all fie!: operations, care will be taken to minimize <br /> contact with c, ils and groundwater. Drilling spoils and <br /> developmental wi;tO- will be stored on--site for proper treatment <br /> or disposal. Thi , will ,ninimize contact and dispersion of <br /> potentially contaminated materials. <br />
