INTRODUCTION <br /> Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc (AGE)has prepared this Preliminary Site Assessment Work Plan <br /> for the property located at 1130 South Pilgrim Street,Stockton,California(site) The proposed work <br /> will be performed to assess the vertical extent of petroleum hydrocarbon-Impacted soil and potential <br /> hydrocarbon Impact to ground water at the site, in the area of the former underground storage tank <br /> (UST) The location of the site is Illustrated on Figure 1 A plan of the site, Including existing <br /> structures and the location of the former UST, is Illustrated on Figure 2 <br /> This work plan was prepared at the request of the San Joaquin County Environmental Health <br /> Department(EHD)by letter dated 06 October 2004, and is in accordance with guidelines Issued by <br /> the Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board(CVRWQCB)for the investigation of UST <br /> sites <br /> 2.0. BACKGROUND <br /> The site is located at 1130 South Pilgrim Street, Stockton, California, and is situated In an area of <br /> mixed commercial and industrial use The site is bordered by South Pilgrim Street to the west,South <br /> Airport Way to the east, East Jackson Street to the south, and East Anderson Street to the north <br /> 21 REGIONAL GEOLOGIC/HYDROGEOLOGIC SETTING <br /> The site Is situated within the southern portion of the Great Valley Geomorphic Province of <br /> California, a large, elongate, northwest trending, asymmetric structural trough, the northern and <br /> southern portions of the Province have been designated the Sacramento and San Joaquin Valleys, <br /> respectively The Province is bordered by the Coast Ranges to the west,the Klamath Mountains and <br /> Cascade Range to the north, and the Sierra Nevada to the east <br /> The Great Valley has been filled with sediments derived from both marine and continental sources <br /> Thickness of the sedimentary fill ranges from thin veneers along the valley edges to more than <br /> 20,000 feet in the south central portion of the valley The sedimentary formations range in age from <br /> Jurassic to Recent,with the older deposits being primarily marine In origin and the younger deposits, <br /> continental Continental-derived sediments were typically deposited in lacustrine, fluvial, and <br /> alluvial environments with sediment sources being the mountain ranges surrounding the valley <br /> (Olmsted and Davis, 1961), the site itself is located on unconsolidated and semi-consolidated <br /> alluvium, lake, playa, and terrace deposits of Quaternary age (California Division of Mines and <br /> .
