REC ENED
Additional Site Assessment Work Plan
JAN 15 2004
MOORE TRUCK LINES
3400 Newton Road, Stockton, California ENVIRONMENT HEALTH
PERMIT/SERVICES
1.0. INTRODUCTION
At the request of Mr. Eric Weilburg of Moore Truck Lines, Advanced GeoEnvironmental, Inc.
(AGE) has prepared the enclosed additional site assessment work plan for 3400 Newton Road,
Stockton, California (site). The work plan includes the advancement of one paired, cone
penetrometer testing(CPT) soil boring for the collection of ground water samples. The location of
the site is illustrated on Figure 1. A plan of the site is illustrated on Figure 2.
The EHD required additional site assessment of the vertical extent of hydrocarbon impacted ground
water due the inability to sample the only contaminated well(MW-1)consecutively.This work plan
was prepared at the request of the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department(EHD)by
letter dated 21 November 2003, and was prepared in accordance with California Regional Water
Quality Control Board - Central Valley Region (CV-RWQCB) guidelines for the investigation of
underground storage tank(UST) sites.
2.0. BACKGROUND
The site is located between North Wilson Way and Cherokee Road on Newton Road west of
Highway 99. The property is located in a topographically flat area at an approximate elevation of 30
feet above mean sea level in Stockton, San Joaquin County,California(Figure 2).The site is within
the northeast quarter of Section 23, Township 2 North, Range 6 East, Stockton West, California
(Stockton West Quadrangle,7.5-Minute USGS Topographic Series, 1968,photo revised 1987).The
site is presently operated as a short-haul trucking and truck repair facility with an office, loading
dock and distribution center also on the property. Four USTs were in use at the site for
approximately 37 years.
2.1. REGIONAL GEOLOGIC/HYDROGEOLOGIC SETTING
The site is located in an area of low topographic relief. According to Geologic Map of California,
published in 1966 by the California Department of Conservation Division of Mines and Geology,
the site area is shown to be within the Great Valley Geomorphic Province (GVGP) of California, a
large, elongate, northwest trending structural trough. The GVGP is subdivided into two major
divisions designated the Sacramento and San Joaquin Valleys, which have been filled to the present
elevation with thick sequences of sediment ranging in age from Jurassic to Recent, creating a nearly
flat-lying alluvial plain extending from the Tehachapi Mountains in the south to the Klamath
Mountains in the north. The western and eastern boundaries of this province are comprised of the
California Coast Range and the Sierra Nevada, respectively.
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc.
