GROUND WATER DEPTH AND FLOW DIRECTION Depth to ground water on 28 March 2003 was measured between 60.74 feet and 61.39 feet below the top of the casings; ground water elevations at the site ranged from 33.60 feet below mean sea level (MSL) in well MW-1 to 34.40 feet below MSL in well MW-4. The ground water flow was directed toward the northwest with a hydraulic gradient calculated to be 0.0007 foot/foot. Ground water elevation data from MW-2 was not used to determine the gradient; the well is screened at a different interval than well2 t ough MW-4. 3.0. SCOPE OF WORK To assess the vertical extent of hydrocarbon and MTBE-impacted ground water on the site, completion of the following tasks is required: • Permitting and pre-field work activities; • CPT drilling and sample collection; • Laboratory analysis of samples; • Review of the analytical data and; • Preparation of a report of findings. 3.1. PERMITTING AND PRE-FIELD WORK ACTIVITIES A site assessment boring permit will be obtained from the EHD for the boring location.As required by EHD permitting,Health and Safety Plan will be prepared in accordance with Occupational Safety and Health Guidance Manual for Hazardous Waste Site Activities (National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health Administration)and with federal(29 CFR 1910.120)and state(title1'' 8, Cal. Code Regs., section 5192) regulations. The SHSP will include: • Field activities, standard operating procedures (SOP); personnel requirements, potential hazardous substances, personnel w/responsibilities, chemical, physical hazards, confined spaces and climatic. The risks arising from the work being performed: impact to workers, community and the environment;Exposure monitoring plan;personal protective equipment and engineering controls; Site controls including work zones and security measures/ decontamination procedures.
