23 May 2001
AGE-NC Project No. 99-0592
Page 2 of 8
3.0. SCOPE OF WORK
AGE proposes the installation of three ground water monitoring wells for the utilization of
repeatable sampling events and to establish a site-specific ground water flow direction. The proposed
work will consist of the following tasks:
• Permitting and pre-field work activities;
• Soil sample collection and analysis;
• Monitoring well installation, development and sampling; and
• Report preparation.
3.1. PERMITTING AND PRE-FIELD WORK ACTIVITIES
Applicable site assessment permits will be obtained from the San Joaquin County PHS-EHD; a
health and safety plan will be prepared in accordance with Occupational Safety and Health Guidance
Manual for Hazardous Waste Site Activities(National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health
Administration, U.S. Coast Guard and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, 1985). Prior to
mobilization, each boring location will be clearly marked and an utility clearance obtained through
Underground Service Alert.
AGE proposes to advance three soil borings at the site. The three borings will be completed as 2-inch
diameter ground water monitoring wells. Proposed monitoring well locations are illustrated in
Figure 2.
One monitoring well is proposed to be installed west of the former UST area; a second monitoring
well will be installed south of the former UST area; and a third monitoring well will be installed
approximately 75 feet northeast of the former UST area.
All soil borings are proposed to be advanced to depths of approximately 70 feet bsg, approximately
15 feet below current ground water levels. However, total depths of borings will be based on field
observations. Soil samples will be collected from pilot boring locations at five-foot intervals from
specific depths of borings based on previously collected field data. Field procedures for advancement
of pilot borings and collection of soil samples are presented in Sections 4.1.
A minimum of two soil samples from each soil boring will be submitted for laboratory analysis.
Selected soil samples will be analyzed by a California Department of Health Services (DHS)-
certified laboratory for the following constituents:
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc.
