04 December 2007
AGE-NC Project No. 99-0592
Solinst Leveloggers Model 3001 instruments will be deployed in selected monitoring wells,to obtain
draw-down measurements at I-minute intervals to measure difference in ground water levels before
and during well pumping. The Leveloggers utilize ceramic pressure transducers to record water level
data, which can be downloaded to a computer via an RS232 Optical infra-red data reader/port
connected to a computer. The Levelogger data will be compared to water level measurements taken
manually from the observation wells at timed intervals.
Barometric measurements will be collected from a dedicated pressure transducer to determine the
atmospheric influence on the pressure transducer values. From this data the results of the draw-down
test will be adjusted to correct for any changes in atmospheric pressure.
During the 48-hour pump tests, the ground water pumping rate will be at a continuous rate between
5 and 6 gallons per minute(GPM),to achieve the optimum pumping rate for the greatest draw-down
influence. If the decline of the ground water level is not satisfactory within the first 48 hours of the
pilot test, additional testing will be performed to achieve sufficient ground water draw-down.
During the 48-hour pump tests, ground water samples will be collected from the effluent line at the
initiation of the test, approximately every 2 hours after pumping is initiated, and just before the end
of the pump test. The samples will be handled as described in Section 2.2.3. above and will be
analyzed by a CDPH-certified laboratory for the constituents listed in Section 2.2. All extracted
ground water will be stored in a temporary, aboveground storage tank. Subsequently, the purged
ground water will be characterized and transported to a suitable waste disposal/recycling facility.
r
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc.
