McManis Family Vineyards -2 - 12 September 2016
an appropriate up-gradient location to determine background conditions. Final well locations will
be presented in a Monitoring Well Installation Report which will also include a narrative justifying
the well locations.
The installation of new monitoring wells must be permitted through San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Department. Well requirements for the county are included in the San
Joaquin County Well Standards (Ordinance Code Section 9-1115.6), dated February 2005
(attached). Once installed, the wells shall be included in the routine monitoring activities
required by the Monitoring and Reporting Program (MRP) 5-00-021 until the new WDRs are
adopted. The newly adopted WDRs will have an updated MRP, which will include monitoring
requirements for the new and existing wells.
The Work Plan is consistent with the procedures in the Requirements for Monitoring Wen
Installation Workplans and Monitoring Well Installation Reports. The Work Plan is conditionally
approved, with the understanding that the southern-most proposed well will be located in an
appropriate area to characterize up-gradient groundwater conditions and in an area that will not
be influenced by the southern agricultural well.
If you have any questions, please contact me at (916) 464-4740 or
dcalanchini(cDwaterboards ca gov.
Dina Calanchini
Engineering Geologist
Waste Discharge to Land Permitting Unit
Attachments: Requirements for Monitoring Well Installation Workplans and Monitoring Well
Installation Reports
San Joaquin County Well Standards (Ordinance Code Section 9-1115.6)
cc: Rodney Estrada, San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department
Jorn Grimsley, Kennedy/Jenks Consultants, San Francisco
