1 2.02 EROSION CONTROL <br /> 2 <br /> 3 A. Cut and fill slopes shall be seeded as described in Section 02492. <br /> a 's B. Contractor shall submit a specific plan for controlling runoff from the plant site during the <br /> 5 rainy season (October 15 through April 1) and any other time significant rain is forecast. <br /> 7 Control shall be by means of silt fences, detention basins, straw bales, earthen berm, or <br /> e other approved means. <br /> s <br /> 10 <br /> 11 PART 3 - EXECUTION ' <br /> 12 <br /> 13 3.01 GENERAL <br /> 14 <br /> 15 Finish grades and existing or natural grades in the area adjacent to the structures are <br /> 16 indicated on the plans. The Contractor shall do all grading, filling-in or excavating as <br /> 17 required to completely grade the site to lines and grades shown, and to provide for the ' <br /> 18 indicated drainage. Where finish grade corresponds practically with existing grade, the <br /> 19 ground shall be worked up and graded off evenly with existing grade. The grading <br /> 20 operation shall generally consist of moving and transporting materials within the area; <br /> 21 however, the Contractor shall provide any additional fill material if necessary to complete , <br /> 22 the site grading to the elevations shown, or to waste any excess material which may result. <br /> 23 <br /> 24 3.02 GROUND SURFACE PREPARATION ' <br /> 25 <br /> 26 Before excavating or placing fill material, complete all clearing and grubbing, and scarify <br /> 27 ground surface to provide ample bond between old and new material. <br /> 2e '29 3.03 PLACEMENT OF FILL <br /> 30 <br /> 31 Place fill materials in layers not exceeding 8 inches loose measurement. Compact each , <br /> 32 layer before placing the next layer. As the compaction of each layer progresses, continually <br /> 33 level and manipulate to assure uniform moisture and density. Add water to obtain specified <br /> 34 moisture content. , <br /> 35 <br /> 36 3.04 DENSITY REQUIREMENTS <br /> 37 <br /> 33 The top 2.5 free of fill materials or top 0.5 feet of cut that are to support roadway ' <br /> 39 pavements, parking areas, and walks shall be compacted to 95 percent of the maximum <br /> 40 density. All fill below the top 2.5 feet and all fill not supporting roadways, parking areas, <br /> 41 or walks shall be compacted to 90 percent of maximum density. ' <br /> 42 <br /> 43 3.05 SLOPE FINISHING <br /> 44 <br /> 45 Leave earth slopes with a roughened but reasonably uniform surface without noticeable ' <br /> 46 breaks. The final surface shall be similar to that obtained by using a farm disk or harrow <br /> 47 parallel to the roadway. Blend slopes smoothly with the adjacent terrain.
