1 2.02 EROSION CONTROL
2
3 A. Cut and fill slopes shall be seeded as described in Section 02492.
a 's B. Contractor shall submit a specific plan for controlling runoff from the plant site during the
5 rainy season (October 15 through April 1) and any other time significant rain is forecast.
7 Control shall be by means of silt fences, detention basins, straw bales, earthen berm, or
e other approved means.
s
10
11 PART 3 - EXECUTION '
12
13 3.01 GENERAL
14
15 Finish grades and existing or natural grades in the area adjacent to the structures are
16 indicated on the plans. The Contractor shall do all grading, filling-in or excavating as
17 required to completely grade the site to lines and grades shown, and to provide for the '
18 indicated drainage. Where finish grade corresponds practically with existing grade, the
19 ground shall be worked up and graded off evenly with existing grade. The grading
20 operation shall generally consist of moving and transporting materials within the area;
21 however, the Contractor shall provide any additional fill material if necessary to complete ,
22 the site grading to the elevations shown, or to waste any excess material which may result.
23
24 3.02 GROUND SURFACE PREPARATION '
25
26 Before excavating or placing fill material, complete all clearing and grubbing, and scarify
27 ground surface to provide ample bond between old and new material.
2e '29 3.03 PLACEMENT OF FILL
30
31 Place fill materials in layers not exceeding 8 inches loose measurement. Compact each ,
32 layer before placing the next layer. As the compaction of each layer progresses, continually
33 level and manipulate to assure uniform moisture and density. Add water to obtain specified
34 moisture content. ,
35
36 3.04 DENSITY REQUIREMENTS
37
33 The top 2.5 free of fill materials or top 0.5 feet of cut that are to support roadway '
39 pavements, parking areas, and walks shall be compacted to 95 percent of the maximum
40 density. All fill below the top 2.5 feet and all fill not supporting roadways, parking areas,
41 or walks shall be compacted to 90 percent of maximum density. '
42
43 3.05 SLOPE FINISHING
44
45 Leave earth slopes with a roughened but reasonably uniform surface without noticeable '
46 breaks. The final surface shall be similar to that obtained by using a farm disk or harrow
47 parallel to the roadway. Blend slopes smoothly with the adjacent terrain. Grading shall
4e provide for drainage away from all sides of structures. '
49
50
1
SITE GRADING
063094 02210-2 '
