1 <br /> SECTION 02604 <br /> z <br /> 3 VAULTS <br /> 4 <br /> 5 <br /> 6 PART 1: GENERAL <br /> 7 <br /> 8 1.01 DESCRIPTION <br /> 1 10 The work of this section consists of furnishing and installing precast concrete utility vaults <br /> 11 and covers. <br /> 12 <br /> 13 1.02 SUBMITTALS <br /> 14 <br /> 15 In accordance with Section 01300, submit manufacturers literature and drawings showing <br /> 16 complete layout, dimensions, design loadings, materials of construction, etc. <br /> 17 <br /> 18 <br /> 19 PART 2: MATERIALS <br /> 20 <br /> 21 2.01 VAULT DESIGN AND MANUFACTURE <br /> 22 <br /> 23 A. Design Loads: Design loads shall consist of live load, dead load, impact load, hydrostatic <br /> 24 load, and other loads that may occur. Live loads shall be for H-20 and/or H-20-S16-44, or <br /> 25 as required, per A.A.S.H.O. Standard Specifications for Highway Bridges with revisions. <br /> 26 Design wheel loads shall be SIXTEEN (16) KIPS. <br /> 27 <br /> 28 B. Forms: All forms used in placing concrete shall be sufficiently designed and braced to <br /> 29 maintain alignment under pressures of concrete placement. <br /> 30 <br /> 31 C. Concrete: <br /> 32 <br /> 33 1. Aggregates used in the concrete mix either coarse or fine, excluding light-weight <br /> 34 aggregates, shall conform to specifications as outlined by ASTM C 33-64. <br /> 35 <br /> 36 2. All light-weight aggregates, fine or coarse, shall conform to specifications as outlined <br /> 37 by ASTM C 330-641. <br /> 38 <br /> 39 3. Both types of aggregates shall be properly graded and free of any deleterious <br /> 40 substances so as to produce a homogeneous concrete mix when blended with cement. <br /> 41 <br /> 42 D. Cement: The cement shall be Type II low alkali Portland Cement and shall meet ASTM C <br /> 43 150 Type II standards. <br /> 44 <br /> 45 E. Compressive strength: Sufficient cement content shall be used per batch so as to produce <br /> 46 a minimum strength of 3000 psi at 28 days or other strength by design when required. <br /> 47 <br /> 48 F. Batching: A central batching facility shall be used to assure accurate weighing and mixing <br /> 49 of materials to obtain a suitable concrete mix. <br /> 50 <br /> VAULTS <br /> 050694 02604-1 <br />
