1 3.03 METAL DRIP EDGES <br /> 2 <br /> 3 Metal drip edges shall be provided as specified in Section 07620, Flashing and Sheet Metal, <br /> I 4 and shall be applied directly on the wood deck at the eaves and over the underlayment at <br /> s the rakes. They shall extend back from the edge of the deck not more than 3 inches and <br /> 6 shall be secured with compatible fasteners spaced not more than 10 inches O.C. along the <br /> 7 inner edge. <br /> 8 <br /> s 3.04 UNDERLAYMENT FOR ROOF <br /> 1 11 Underlayment consisting of one layer of 30-pound asphalt-saturated felt shall be applied <br /> 10 <br /> 12 to the roof-deck sheathing. A 9-inch starter sheet shall be provided tt maintain the <br /> 13 specified number of layers throughout the roof. Felt shall be laid at right angles to the <br /> 14 slope of the deck continuing from roof angles to the slope of the deck continuing from roof <br /> 15 eaves to ridge, using 19-inch side laps for 2-layer application 4-inch end laps, and 6-inch <br /> 16 laps from both sides over all hips and ridges. Felt shall be nailed sufficiently to h old until <br /> 1 17 shingles are applied. Nailing shall be confined to the upper 17 inches of each felt. <br /> 18 Underlayment shall be turned up vertical surfaces not less than 4 inches. <br /> 1s <br /> 20 3.05 EAVES FLASHING FOR ROOF <br /> r 21 <br /> 22 For 24-inches inside the interior wall line, a solid coating of bituminous cement shall be <br /> 23 applied between the layers of underlayment. Bituminous cement shall be spread to a <br /> 24 uniform thickness at a rate of not less than 2 gallons of cement per 100 square feet of roof <br /> 25 area. Felt shall be applied immediately prior to shingle application. <br /> 26 <br /> 27 3.06 STARTER STRIP <br /> 28 <br /> 29 A starter strip shall be applied at the eaves, consisting of a 9-inch wide strip of mineral- <br /> 3o surfaced roll roofing of a color to match the shingles, or a row of inverted shingles with <br /> 31 tabs cut off may be used as the starter strip. The starter strip shall be applied along the <br /> 32 eaves, overlaying and finishing even with the lower edge of the flashing strip fastening shall <br /> 33 be done in a line parallel to, and 3 to 4 inches above the eave edge. The fasteners shall <br /> 34 be placed so that the top of the fastener will not be exposed in the cut-outs of the first <br /> 35 course of shingles. <br /> 36 <br /> 37 3.07 SHINGLES <br /> 38 <br /> 38 These shall be applied in accordance with the manufacturer's printed installation <br /> 40 instructions. <br /> 41 <br /> 42 3.08 RIDGE <br /> 43 <br /> 44 Form ridge with 9-inch by 12-inch individual shingles or with 12-inch by 12-inch shingles <br /> 45 cut from 12-inch by 36-inch strip shingles. Bend shingles lengthwise down the center with <br /> 46 equal exposure ton each side of hip or ridge.
