All steel members used in the fabrication of the equipment shall conform to the
7 requirements or "Specifications for Structural Steel". ASTM A36. All stainless steel shall be
8 Type 316 unless otherwise specified.
9
' 19 B. Design and fabrication of Structural Steel Members shall be in accordance with the latest
11 edition of AISC "Specifications for the Design, Fabrication, and Erection of Structural Steel
12 Plates, Bars and Strip", Designation A-123, or of the ASTM Standard Specifications for Zinc
13 Coating (Hot Dip) or Iron and Steel Hardware, Designation A153067, as appropriate for
14 Buildings. All welding shall conform to the latest standards of the American Welding
15 Society.
18
' 17 C. All parts shall be amply proportioned for all stresses which may occur during fabrication,
18 erection, and operation.
19
20 2.03 BOLTS, NUTS, AND WASHERS
21
zz Bolts for the equipment assembly shall be hexagonal, refined bar iron, except where the
23 equipment body is stainless steel, aluminum, or bronze alloy, the bolts shall be the same
24 corrosion resistant material. Nuts shall be hexagonal, of the same metal as the bolts. All
25 threads shall be clean cut and shall conform to U.S. Standard B1.1 for Unified Screw
26 Threads.
27
' 28 2.04 NAMEPLATES
29
30 Equipment nameplates shall be engraved or stamped on stainless steel and fastened to the
31 equipment in an accessible location with oval head stainless steel screws or drive pins.
32
33 2.05 EQUIPMENT MOUNTS, GROUTING, AND VIBRATION ISOLATION
34
35 A. Equipment mountings shall be as shown. Where a steel or cast base is shown between
36 the equipment and a concrete pedestal, it shall be painted after fabrication in conformance
37 with applicable provisions of Section 09900. It also shall be equipped with drain pans and
' 38 drain connections, where applicable.
39
40 B. All concrete plan dimensions for bases or pedestals shall be at least 2 inches larger in
' 41 each dimension than the steel or cast base installed thereon. Conduits, piping
42 connections, drains, etc., shall be installed as shown on the Drawings, and/or standard
43 mechanical details.
44
' 45 C. Where specified or noted in the Drawings, the equipment including the base, shall be
46 mounted on or suspended from vibration isolators to prevent the transmission of vibration
47 and mechanically transmitted sound to the supporting structure. Vibration isolation
' 48 available internally in the equipment unit is not equivalent and shall not be provided when
49 vibration isolation as specified herein is required. Normally provided internal vibration
50 isolators need be replaced with rigid supports in such cases.
51
GENERAL MECHANICAL EQUIPMENT PROVISIONS
081294 11010-3
