i <br /> Central Valley Region(Regional Board) in May 1994, as amended to respond to Regional Board review <br /> comments and included the following;.those items which were completed are noted: <br /> + The installation of four new monitoring wells to.assess the extent of contaminants in the <br /> campground area. <br /> The collection of grab groundwater samples at two locations on the levee to assess the <br /> extent.of contaminants on the levee. <br /> • The installation of a free product recovery system (.completed May 1994). <br /> • Conducting slug tests. in the wells to estimate the hydraulic conductivity of the water.- <br /> bearing zone on the levee (completed June 1994). <br /> • Conducting a soil vapor extraction test on the levee.to evaluate the effectiveness of vapor <br /> r extraction on.the levee. <br /> • Dual phase extraction of soil vapor and.groundwater from the:levee with vapor emission. <br /> abatement as required by air regulations,and groundwater treatment via the on-site <br /> wastewater treatment plant, if feasible. <br /> r The majority of the planned activities discussed in the RAP were.not conducted since it was not possible, <br /> to obtain a permit from Reclamation District#548 (District). The levee has been'designated intrinsically <br /> unsafe by the Army Corps of Engineers. To resolve this :impasse, on.September 21, 1994, the Regional <br /> Board submitted a request for a revised work plan to define the extent of petroleum contamination and <br /> to evaluate remedial alternatives which.would not adversely affect the integrity,of the levee. <br /> 1.3 WORK PLAN OBJECTIVE <br /> The objective of this work plan is.to comply.with the recent Regional Board request and describe the <br /> planned activities that will be conducted at the Site to address the subsurface .petroleum hydrocarbon <br /> contamination at the Site. <br /> GASUSAMTOWERMWKPLAN <br /> 50114-001-01 1--2 <br />
