Total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline (TPHg) concentrations in soil gas samples exceeded the Ehvironmehtal Screening' Levels (ESL) .of 29,000 micrograms per cubic meter (lag/M3) by concentrations as high as 3,700,000 pgIM3. The EHD had .directed that the risk and hazard. posed by the high TPHg concentrations in soil gas be addressed before closing the site. The EHD received an evaluation that d.id not address the high TPHg concentration except to note that there was rio California Health Hazard Screening Level (CHHSL) established for TPHg. While that may be true, the EHD considers the potential hazard posed by the high TPHg concentrations to be an issue that must still be addressed prior to initiating, the site closure process.
