ti./
Wright
July 13, 1995 " Environmental
Services, Inc.
San Joaquin County, PHS-EHD
P.O. Box 2009
445 N. San Joaquin Street
Stockton, CA 95201
Attn: Ms. Linda Turkatte
Re: Diesel spill at Greystone Station, Tracy, CA.
Dear Linda,
Wright Environmental Services, Inc. (Wright) has been retained by Veri Built
Construction of Dixon, CA to perform environmental sampling services at Greystone
Station, a housing subdivision located in Tracy CA.
Background
An aboveground diesel storage tank used by the construction crew was vandalized
resulting in a spill of approximately 200 gallons into a secondary containment box
filled with sand with some subsequent leakage into the near surface soils in the
vicinity of the containment box and the tank. Veri Built's on site staff removed the
tank and containment debris and excavated the visibly contaminated soil and placed
all the material between plastic at a remote location at the site. At that time, Wright
contacted the San Joaquin County Public Health Service-Environmental Health
Division (PHS-EHD) of the spill and forwarded the correct notification forms to Veri
Built to complete and submit with their fee for oversight.
Technical Approach
Wright will collect soil samples as required by PHS-EHD in the area of the former
aboveground diesel tank. The samples will be analyzed for Petroleum Hydrocarbons
as Diesel (TPHD) by method 8015 and Benzene, Toluene, Ethylbenzene, and Xylene
(BTEX) by method 8020. The samples will be placed in new 2" brass liners and capped
with Teflon' paper and sealed with plastic end caps and placed on ice for transport to
Priority Environmental Lab in Milpitas, CA, a state certified laboratory. The
stockpiled soil was sampled in four locations and composited into one sample and
analyzed for TPHD and BTEX as required for disposal as Class II, daily cover material at
Waste Management Inc., Altamont landfill (profile #368702). During soil disposal
activities, visibly impacted soil beneath the stockpile's plastic liner was over
excavated and disposed of. A copy of the analytical results required for disposal are
included with this workplan.
If you have any questions, please call our Tracy office at (209) 833-0758.
W fight Environmental Services, Inc.
L
Lester Messina
Project Manager
cc: Steve Surano, Greystone homes, Inc.
Cory Strack, Veri Built Construction
enclosure: Chemical analytical data for disposal
4220 Commercial Dr. #5 - Tracy, California 95376 its,
Telephone (209) 833-0758 • Fax(209) 832-5152
