(AGEI)
requesting a reduction of sampling and reporting frequency for groundwater monitoring
events.
The EHD has reviewed the groundwater analytical data for this site and believes the
dissolved petroleum plume can still be managed effectively while reducing the sampling
and monitoring frequency. Please be aware that the California Code of Regulations,
Title 23, Section 2652 requires owners of contaminated underground storage tank sites
to report quarterly on the status of their site to the lead regulatory agency overseeing
the investigation. To maintain an understanding of the plume and reduce your costs
associated with monitoring and sampling, the EHD will approve modification of the
quarterly sampling requirement as detailed below:
1. Monitoring wells MW-3 MW-4, MW-5, MW-6, MW-10A, MW.-14, and MW-17, are 3
to be sampled semi-annually (first and third quarters, starting in third quarter
2009) for TPHg, BTEX, TAME, and 1,2-DCA by EPA Method 8260B.
2. You may stop sampling monitoring wells MW-7C through MW-7E, MW=8C
through MW-8F, MW-9B through MW-9E, MW-10C through MW-10F, MW-11C 35
through MW-11F, MW-12C through MW-12F, MW-13C through MW-13F, MW-
14C through MW-14F, and MW-15C through MW-15F until further notice.
3. The remaining monitoring wells are to be sampled annually (during the first
quarter of each year, starting in 2010). - I
A quarterly letter report is to be submitted to the EHD every quarter that the 'semi-
annual' sampling events do not occur. The report is to include an update on specific
information and results of all corrective action (investigation) which has occurred during
the period. An item that must be discussed in each quarterly report is future
14749 Thornton M&R reduc CML 3-26-09
