13 November 2002
AGE-NC Project No 97-0249
' 3 1 GROUND WATER ELEVATION AND GRADIENT
The depths to ground water in wells MW-1 through MW-6 vaned from 17 12 to 19 36 feet below
' the tops of the well casings, ground water elevations were calculated to be between 9 21 feet
(MW-5)and 10 35 feet(MW-6)below mean sea level Ground water elevation at the site decreased
an average 6 55 feet between the June 2002 and the September 2002 ground water monitoring
I events The ground water elevation data for MW-1 through MW-6 during the September 2002
ground water monitoring event is depicted in Figure 3
Based on the ground water elevation data, ground water was inferred to be flowing west to southwest
between Flag City Chevron wells MW-7,MW-13A and Three B's Truck Plaza wells MW-1 though
MW-6 (Figure 4) The ground water gradient was calculated to be approximately 0 006 ft/ft or less
' near the Rocky's Restaurant and Three B's Truck Plaza sites
3 2 LABORATORY RESULTS OF MONITORING WELL GROUND WATER SAMPLES
A total of six ground water samples were submitted for analysis to McCampbell Analytical Inc
 . (MAI), a DHS-certified laboratory
TPH-g was detected in the water samples collected from wells MW-1, MW-2, MW-3, MW-5 and
MW-6 at concentrations ranging between 310 and 6,500 micrograms per liter(µg/1),the laboratory
reported each TPH-g chromatogram as having unmodified or weakly modified gasoline patterns
I TPH-d was detected in water samples collected from MW-1, MW-2, MW-3 and MW-6 at
concentrations ranging between 240 and 1,500 µg/1, however, the laboratory noted that the diesel
range hydrocarbons in the samples had non-diesel patterns and the samples contained either
significant lighter gasoline range compounds or oil range compounds
BTEX compounds were detected inwater samples collected from MW-1,MW-2,MW-3,MW-5 and
MW-6 at concentrations ranging as high as 1,300 µg/1 (benzene, MW-3)
MTBE was detected in the water sample collected from MW-4 at a concentration of 56µg/1(MW-4)
In addition, 1,2-DCA was detected in water samples collected from MW-2 and MW-6 at
concentrations of 4 2 µg/1 and 2 2 µg/1, respectively No other oxygenated fuel additives were
detected in the ground water samples
Previous and current analytical results of ground water monitoring well samples are summarized in
Tables 3 and 4 The laboratory reports(MAI Work Order No 0209079)and chain-of-custody forms
Iare presented in Appendix C
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc
