Leclerc:
Enclosed is a "Facility Permit/Waste Discharge" application
for a steam cleaning unit that will be used to reclaim and reuse
waste water from the steam cleaning of forklifts . Enclosed also
are a section of U.S .G.S . Quadrangle map showing the location of
the facility, information on the steam cleaning equipment to be
installed by Environmental Engineering Consultants , Inc. , and a
plans showing the design and plumbing of the unit to reclaim and
reuse the waste water. You mentioned in our phone conversation
that a permit will probably not be needed and not to include the
permit fee.
The original plan was to install a three section sand and
grease interceptor. The plan has been modified to reclaim and
reuse the water for steam cleaning of forklifts after separation
of the oil . The separated oil will be skimmed and recovered for
recycling . It will be a close-loop system with no discharge of
effluent.
The sludge will be composed of sand and grit and will be
tested for heavy metals before disposal . If the results show the
sludge to be non-hazardous , it will be disposed of as a normal
solid waste material . If hazardous , it will be handled as a
hazardous material .
As indicated in the plan, a sump pump will be installed in the
first compartment of the sand/grease interceptor to pump the
wastewater to the oil removal unit. The second and third
compartment will be filled and sealed. The concept is to separate
the oil from the water and soil , recover the oil for recycling, and
reuse the water.
P.O.
