applicant has indicated that the 10-acre area could be deeded to the County and be
made available for the recreational purposes.
Upon completion of mineral extraction activities, i.e., after all of the
economically viable resource has been removed, the entire processing facility would be
dismantled and removed from the site. Any economically viable sand and gravel which
is beneath the processing facility and stockpile areas would be excavated. The applicant
estimates that this area may contain a 2 to 3 year supply of sand with some gravel. This
material would be processed into aggregate products using either a portable processing
facility at the site or by transporting the material to an established off site facility.
The area north of the existing processing facility would be used as a borrow
area, as shown in Figure 2.1-2, during reclamation of the processing facility and settling
pond areas. The elevation of the borrow area would be lowered and contoured to allow
agricultural uses. The quarry area adjacent to the processing facility may be used to
expand the existing stock pond or may be reclaimed for agricultural use. The paved
access road to the existing processing facility would remain in place to provide access to
the reclaimed areas.
The area currently occupied by the processing facility would be returned to
agricultural production; however, specific crops that would be established in this area
have not yet been determined. The riparian corridor along the north bank of the
Mokelumne River would be preserved.
17
