/
EAST 6k' r:':r, . • -.'✓ DrsT.'!Cr _
October 23 , 1989
Mr. Richard Larrouy
San Joaquin County Planning Division
1810 East Hazelton r;r--
Stockton, CA 95205
SUBJECT: Quarry Excavation ;
Application QX-90-1
Dear Mr. Larrouy:
This letter is in response to San Joaquin County ' s Public Notice
regarding Application No. QX-90-1 (pre-application) for a permit
for Claude C. Wood Co. to excavate 2 . 4 million tons of rock,
sand, and gravel on the north side of Highway 88 , west of
Clements, California.
The proposed project is within the 100 year floodplain of the
Mokelumne River. It will modify the topography of the land
adjacent to the Mokelumne River and will disturb existing
alluvial deposits .
The proposal has potential adverse impacts on the Mokelumne River
fishery and could increase the area of land subject to inundation
during flood events. The extent of these impacts should be
identified and mitigation measures which reduce these impacts to
insignificant levels should be required prior to project
approval.
The California Department of Fish and Game and the U. S . Corps of
Engineers should be consulted to aid in the investigation of
these potential impacts.
Very truly yours,
0
C. T.
