Wood Company <br /> OX-90-1 Excavation, SCH #90020113 <br /> The Mine Reclamation Program staff of the Department of <br /> Conservation' s Division of Mines and Geology has reviewed the <br /> NOP for the above-noted quarry excavation application. The <br /> following comments were prepared by James Pompy, Mine Reclamation <br /> Program Manager. <br /> The Surface Mining and Reclamation Act of 1975 (SMARA) and the <br /> State Mining and Geology Board regulations for surface mining and <br /> reclamation practice (California Code of Regulations (CCR) <br /> [formerly California Administrative Code (CAC) ] , Title 14 , <br /> Chapter 8 , Article 1, Sections 3500 et seq. ) (copies enclosed) <br /> require that a reclamation plan be submitted to and approved by <br /> the lead agency prior to the commencement of any new mining <br /> operations. <br /> Included in the reclamation plan should be the proposed end use <br /> and a description of how the land will be reclaimed for the <br /> proposed use. Specific issues that are required to be addressed <br /> are listed in SMARA Sections 2772 and CCR Sections 3502 and 3503 . <br /> Special attention should be given to addressing potential adverse <br /> impacts to ground water quality in the area. A statement that <br /> the person submitting the plan accepts responsibility for <br /> reclaiming the mined lands in accordance with the reclamation <br /> plan should also be included. <br /> The Mine Reclamation Program staff will, if requested by the lead <br /> agency, provide technical assistance in the review of the <br /> reclamation plan. <br /> Please send a copy of the approved reclamation plan and permit <br /> issued by you as lead agency under SMARA to the Mine Reclamation <br /> Program Office at 650-B Bercut Drive, Sacramento, CA 95814 . The <br /> approved documents will be placed in the Mine Reclamation Program <br /> files pursuant to the Surface Mining and Reclamation Act. <br />
