The site surface is primarily covered with
gravel, with a paved parking area present on the northern side of the office building (Figure 2).
The facility leases, sells, services, and transports cranes and other lift equipment for use in various
industrial, commercial, and construction applications. The facility's Standard Industrial Classification (SIC)
Codes are 7359 (Equipment Rental and Leasing, Not Elsewhere Classified) and 4213 (Trucking, Except Local).
On-site operations include equipment washing, fueling, and general servicing (e.g., oil changes, parts
replacement, battery replacement, and minor repairs and touch-up painting). Maxim Crane Works has operated
at the site since 1999 when it acquired Husky Crane, Inc. Husky Crane began operations at the site in 1982.
Prior to 1982, the site was used for equipment storage, livestock, and agricultural purposes.
B. Oil Storage (40 CFR 112.7(a)(3))
Oil storage at the facility consists of four aboveground storage tanks (ASTs). The tanks are summarized
on Table 3.
The facility has a two-stage below-grade clarifier that is used to treat wastewater generated from power
washing of vehicles and cranes. The clarifier consists of two 600-gallon concrete vaults in series configuration.
Oil and dirt are separated by gravity settling and the treated water is discharged to a drainage swale along the
eastern site boundary. The clarifier is exempt from SPCC requirements pursuant to 40 CFR 112.1(d)(6). *This
clarifier has been de-activated and not in use*
-9-
