acetate sample tubes installed inside the sample sleeve..After the rod assembly-was hydraulically
Cextended to the target sample depth; the sample sleeve was retrieved to ground surface and the
acetate sample tube containing soil from the appropriate sar ple interval was capped with Teflong-
lined plastic end caps, labeled, placed in a Ziplock® bag,and stored in a chest cooled with crushed
ice.
Groundwater Sam lin
Groundwater. samples were collected with the Geoprobe® sampler by hydraulically driving a
temporary PVC well screen into the water bearing zone, and allowing the groundwater-to collect
.in the bottom of the PVC pipe. Groundwater samples were collected using a disposable bailer, then
transferred to containers preserved with HCL (for VOC analysis). Sample containers were then
labeled, placed in a Ziplockt bag, and stored in a chest cooled with crushed ice.
Groundwater was generally encountered around 14 feet below ground surface (bgs) during
assessment activities.
Boring,Completion
C After soil andoundwater les had been collected; each borehole was tremmie-grouted with
' samples
Portland Cement and the ground surface was repaired with concrete. A black dying agent was
mixed with the surface concrete in an attempt to snatch the surrounding surface color.
3.2 LABORA'T'ORY ANALYSIS
Ceres Associates, following chain of custody protocols, released soil and groundwater samples to
Me Campbell Analytical of.Pacheco, California, a State of California-certified analytical
laboratory, on January 6, 2004.
Ceres Associates analyzed the soil samples collected from approximately five feet below ground
surface(bgs). Soil samples were analyzed for volatile organic compounds (VOCs)using U.S.EPA
method 8260b. The groundwater samples were analyzed for VOCs using U.S. EPA method 624.
Laboratory Data Reports are included in the Appendix°of this document.
RESULTS
I
Table 1 reports concentrations of target analytes above laboratory reporting limits.Concentrations
of VOCs from soil samples collected from SB 1, SB2, and SB3,and groundwater samples collected
fiom SBI and SB2 were not reported by the laboratory above method reporting limits (ND). PCE
was reported in groundwater collected.from SB3 at a concentration of 0.72 ppb. The State of
California maximum contaminant level (MCL) for PCE is 5.0 ppb.
Ceres Associates $ Project CA 1156-2
I Cathay Bank(Former Valley Cleaners,Tracy) January 12,2004
