11 ;I
CAMBRIA
Quarterly Sampling
Groundwater samples were analyzed for total purgeable hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPHg)
according to EPA Method 8015 (Modified) and benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, xylenes
(BTEX), and methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE) according to EPA Method 8020 Wells
MW-IA, MW-2A, and BF-1 were also analyzed for MTBE according to EPA Method
8260A
Field monitoring data and chemical analytical data for TPHg, BTEX, and MTBE are
presented in a summary table in Blaine's groundwater monitoring report (Appendix A)
Monthly groundwater extraction using a vacuum truck (VacOps) began February 7, 2000
During the second quarter of 2000 groundwater was extracted from wells MW-1 A, M W-2A,
and BF-1 on April 7, May 9, and June 9, 2000 A total of 11,500 gallons of groundwater
were pumped from all three wells during the second quarter of 2000 A summary of the
volume of groundwater extracted at the site, and an estimate of the amount of TPHg,
benzene, and MTBE removed during these extraction events is presented in Table 1
• Conclusions and Recommendations
The concentration of MTBE in well MW-lA appears to have stabilized, and declined,
compared to the increasing trend from previous quarter's sampling events These changes
may be attributable to the monthly groundwater extraction program in place at this site
This trend will be monitored in future sampling events to determine if groundwater extraction
is having a positive affect on MTBE concentrations in site wells
•
0813 2
