CAMBRIA
Quarterly Sampling
Groundwater samples were analyzed for total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPHg)
according to EPA Method 8015 (Modified) and benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, xylenes
(BTEX), and methyl ternary butyl ether (MTBE) according to EPA Method 8020 Wells
MW-IA, MW-2A, and BF-1 were also analyzed for MTBE according to EPA Method
8260B
Field monitoring data and chemical analytical data for TPHg, BTEX, and MTBE are
presented in a summary table in Blaine's groundwater monitoring report (Appendix A)
Monthly groundwater extraction using a vacuum truck began February 7, 2000 1,000 gallons
of groundwater was pumped from both wells MW-lA and MW-2A During the
March 7, 2000 groundwater extraction event, groundwater was also extracted from one of
the underground storage tank complex backfill wells A summary of the volume of
groundwater extracted at the site, and an estimate of the amount of TPHg, benzene, and
MTBE removed during these extraction events is presented in Table l
Conclusions and Recommendations
The concentration of MTBE in well MW-1A appears to have stabilized compared to the
increasing trend from previous quarter's sampling events MTBE concentration in well
MW-2A decreased since last quarter These changes may be attributable to the groundwater
extraction that took place prior to this quarter's sampling event This trend will be
monitored in future sampling events to determine if groundwater extraction is having a
positive affect on MTBE concentrations in these wells
0813 2
