Sample Handling Sample containers will be labeled immediately following collection Sam- ples will be kept cool with cold packs until received by the laboratory At the time of sampling, each sample will be logged on a Shell chain-of-cus- tody record that will accompany the sample to the laboratory Samples will be transferred from the site to a Shell-approved laboratory by the sampling team Sample shipments from EMCON to laboratories per- forming the selected analyses routinely occur within 24 hours of sample collection Sample Documentation The following procedures will be used during sampling and analysis to provide chain-of-custody control during sample handling from collection through storage Sample documentation will include the use of the following • a field logbook to document sampling activities in the field • labels to identify individual samples • chain-of-custody record sheets for documenting posses- sion and transfer of samples • laboratory analysis request sheets for documenting analy- ses to be performed Field Logbook In the field, the sampler will record the following information on the Water Sample Field Data Sheet (see Figure B-2) for each sample collected • project number • client's name • location • name of sampler • date and time • well accessibility and integrity E • PRA P91K022 AOW Rev 0 February 7, 1992
