CAMBRIA
ANTICIPATED FOURTH QUARTER 2001 ACTIVITIES
Groundwater Monitoring Blaine will gauge and sample the site wells according to the existing
sampling schedule and tabulate the data Cambria will prepare a groundwater monitoring report
Groundwater Remediation GWE will continue on a twice-monthly basis
Onsite Abandoned Water Well As previously proposed, Cambria would like to properly
destroy the water well at this site We will proceed with well destruction activities once we have
received approval from SJCPHS
CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
MTBE concentrations this quarter are within the historical norm for this site Groundwater flow
direction was to the northeast again this quarter as it typically is, last quarter being an exception
Cambria recommends the onsite water well be properly destroyed as it is not in use and there are
no plans to use this well in the future Due to the location of the well and constraints of adjacent
site features it may not be possible to access the well with a drilling rig Therefore we feel that
pressure-grouting this well is the best alternative for well destruction Cambria sent photos of
the well to SJCPHS to illustrate the logistical difficulties the location of this well presents We
will submit a pernut for well destruction once we receive approval from SJCPHS to proceed with
well destruction
During Cambria's sensitive receptor survey for this site (November 2, 1999 report) we
discovered a Department of Water Resources Water Well Drillers Report indicating a water well
exists at the nearby Chevron site located at 3775 Tracy Boulevard We reported this information
to SJCPHS and Chevron and to date we have not been given a definitive answer as to whether or
not the well still exists It is important to determine the status of this well in order to protect it as
a sensitive receptor or to properly destroy it to eliminate a possible conduit to deeper water
bearing zones
0813 2
