•CAMBRIA
• While preparing this work plan we discovered a reference to a former water supply well at
the subject site This well was located east of MW-1A and is labeled as "Capped off' on
an old site plan The well is not visible at the surface, so we surveyed this area with a
metal detector and found a possible location in the planter east of MW-IA We will be
excavating this area on April 26, 2001 in an attempt to locate the well If the well is
found and is intact we will collect a groundwater sample from it and submit it for
laboratory analysis
Work Tasks
Permits An application for a drilling permit will be submitted to the SJCPHS/EHD Four of
the wells are located offsite on public property (City of Tracy) We will apply for an
encroachment permit from the City of Tracy for these proposed wells
Site Safety Plan A Site Safety Plan will be prepared for field work
Utility Clearance Proposed drilling locations will be marked and their locations cleared
through Underground Service Alert prior to drilling
Site Investigation Five monitoring wells (S-4 through S-8) and one CPT (CPT-1) boring are
proposed as shown on Figure 2 A Cambria geologist will supervise the drilling of the well
borings and describe encountered soils using the Unified Soil Classification System and
Munsell Soil Color Charts Soil samples will be collected from the well borings at five-foot
intervals for soil description, possible chemical analysis, and organic vapor screening with a
photo-ionization detector (PID)
A Cambria geologist will supervise the drilling of the CPT boring, and encountered soils will
be logged continuously using electronic CPT technology This boring will be advanced to 100
fbg to log the soil Soil samples will be collected at 10-foot intervals for soil description,
possible chemical analysis, and organic vapor screening with a photo-ionization detector
(PID) Soil sampling will be terminated at 80 fbg unless field evidence suggests petroleum
hydrocarbons are present at 80 fbg or deeper The boring will be drilled deeper and additional
soil sampling will be performed if warranted
Soil samples will be retained in stainless steel or brass sample tubes and will be covered on
both ends with Teflon sheets and plastic end caps Soil samples will be labeled, entered onto a
chain-of-custody record and placed into a cooler with ice for transport to a State of
California certified laboratory for analyses
0813 4
